Use ClauseIt in Claude and ChatGPT

Connect ClauseIt to the AI you already use: the AI writes the answer, ClauseIt supplies the sources. It finds and reads the Korean source text of statutes, court precedents, Constitutional Court decisions, government legal interpretations, administrative rules and local ordinances (selected topics) — 292,566 documents — and checks the statutes and cases cited in an answer against that text.

How it works

ClauseIt's server calls no AI model

ClauseIt only searches, reads source text and checks citations. The answer is written by the AI you chose; ClauseIt does not send your request on to any other AI model.

One read-only permission

Connecting grants a single read-only permission. It gives no access to your ClauseIt conversations or account settings.

Questions and drafts are not stored

Search terms, questions and drafts sent to the tools are used only while they are processed. What remains is a call record — tool name, outcome and the like — deleted after 90 days (values that link a two-step request are kept briefly; see Data and security below).

Korean sources, your language

The documents are the official Korean texts. Ask in any language — your AI searches in Korean legal terms and can explain what it finds in yours.

Connect

Menu names and locations vary by app version and plan. Connecting opens ClauseIt's sign-in page; if you have no account, you can sign up there. The sign-in and consent pages are in Korean — 이메일 = email, 비밀번호 = password, 로그인 = sign in, 이메일로 새로 가입하기 = sign up with email, 허용 = allow, 취소 = cancel.

Desktop apps with an MCP server list

Add a server under Settings → Plugins → MCP and enter the connection URL. There is no refresh button: to reload the tool descriptions, switch the server off and on. If the same server shows up twice (clauseit-2 and so on), keep only one.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http clauseit https://clauseit.net/mcp

After running the command, pick clauseit with /mcp in Claude Code and sign in. Add --scope user to use it in every project. The consent page shows the requesting app as ‘이 컴퓨터의 앱’ (an app on this computer).

Search

search
Searches statutes, court precedents, Constitutional Court decisions, government legal interpretations, administrative rules and local ordinances (selected topics) in one query. Each result carries its validity status (overruled, unconstitutional, lower court and the like).
1 unit

Read the source

fetch
Reads a document or an article in full. Given a date, it returns the article as it stood that day; for statutes it also reads annexes and forms (별표·서식) and links the official files.
1 unit

Research

legal_research
Gathers candidate documents for a question, then builds an evidence package — statutes, precedents, citation links and related decrees and rules — from the documents the AI picks.
3 units

Find citations

lookup_citations
Finds the documents behind citations such as ‘민법 제750조’ or ‘대법원 2020다41002’ and returns them with an excerpt and their validity status.
1 unit

Check citations

check_answer
Checks that the statutes, articles and cases cited in a draft exist, are not repealed, unconstitutional or deleted, and name the right court and holding, and pairs each cited sentence with the closest passage of its source. Drafts of complaints (소장), answers (답변서) and demand letters (내용증명) also get filing checks. It checks citations only, not the legal reasoning.
3 units

Validity details

citator
Shows whether a precedent was overruled en banc and how it fared on appeal, and an article's unconstitutionality rulings, deletion and recent amendments.
1 unit

Related authorities

get_related
Follows citations — the leading cases that cite an article, the statutes a document cites, lower court and appeal, decrees and rules under a statute, interpretations.
1 unit

Amendment history

article_history
Traces how an article was amended (added, amended, deleted, moved), compares two dates and lists the relevant transitional provisions.
1 unit

Using ClauseIt, look up Article 750 of the Korean Civil Act and list the leading Supreme Court decisions that cite it.

Using ClauseIt, show how Article 26 of the Korean Labor Standards Act (advance notice of dismissal) has been amended over time.

Data and security

  • You sign in on ClauseIt's own page (OAuth). Your password is never passed to Claude or ChatGPT.
  • You grant one permission, legal:read, shown on the consent page as 「법령·판례 검색과 조회 (읽기 전용)」 (search and read statutes and cases, read-only).
  • Search terms, questions and drafts are not stored. What remains is a call record — tool name, units used, outcome, processing time and request and response size — deleted after 90 days. The value that links the two steps of a research request (a hash of the question and the candidate list) is kept for 10 minutes, and usage counters until midnight.
  • You can disconnect at any time under ‘연결된 앱’ (Connected apps) in your ClauseIt profile; it takes effect immediately. Connections left unused for 30 days expire on their own.
  • On this path ClauseIt's server calls no external AI model. What happens inside Claude or ChatGPT follows their own policies.

Troubleshooting

I'm asked to reconnect

The connection expired after 30 days unused, or it was disconnected from your profile. Connect again from the app's connector settings.

The tool descriptions look out of date

In ChatGPT on the web, choose ‘Refresh’ under Settings → Apps → ClauseIt; in desktop apps, switch the server off and on. In Claude, start a new chat.

The same server appears twice (clauseit-2 and so on)

The same URL was added twice. Keep one and remove the other; with both on, every tool shows up twice.

I've used up my allowance

The daily allowance resets at midnight Korea time and the monthly one on the 1st of the next month. For more, see the plans (in Korean).

I'm told to try again shortly

Many requests for heavy tools such as legal_research and check_answer arrived at once. Try again in a moment.

Google sign-in is blocked inside the app

Browsers inside apps can block Google sign-in. Continue with email instead, or start the connection again in your default browser.

I want to disconnect

Disconnect under ‘연결된 앱’ (Connected apps) in your ClauseIt profile. The app loses access to the ClauseIt tools at once.
